Family Therapy

All happy families are like one another, each unhappy family is unhappy in its own way

Leo Tolstoy “Anna Karenina”

Family therapy can be recommended for the same kinds of concerns for which individual or couple’s therapy is recommended, but especially for child and adolescent problems, addressing conflict with in-laws and divorce/separation issues. Family therapy is a method of understanding and treating emotional problems and personal or relationship crises by working with the entire family rather than the individual. Therapy sessions focus on understanding your thoughts, feelings and behavior within the context of your family.

I often combine individual, couple's or family therapy because I truly believe that we are a product of our relationships. At the same time, I never underestimate the value of understanding each individual’s unique, private world. For this reason I will sometimes suggest individual sessions as a part of couple’s or family therapy.

Specializing in marriage and family therapy convinced me that many years of intense conflict and dissatisfaction in your relationship CAN be resolved when I help everyone involved to be heard better and understood better…
